Wyatt Cole

Wyatt Cole has always appreciated the quieter side of life. Originally from East Tennessee, Wyatt grew up outside Knoxville surrounded by mountains, small communities, and a musical culture that ran much deeper than whatever happened to be popular at the moment. Country was part of that world, but so were bluegrass, Southern gospel, classic rock, and the songs his family passed around simply because they loved them. That gave Wyatt an appreciation for music that starts with the song itself. He loves a big country hit as much as anybody, but he’s always been interested in the writing underneath it — the line that catches you off guard, the story that feels familiar, or the chorus that somehow stays in your head for the rest of the day. Radio appealed to Wyatt for much the same reason. He’s never been interested in being the biggest personality in the room. Wyatt would rather have a good conversation, tell a story, make somebody laugh, and let the music do some of the work. His warm delivery and understated sense of humor eventually found a natural home behind the microphone. Away from the station, Wyatt enjoys spending time outdoors, working around the house, following college sports, exploring small towns, and finding locally owned places that have been around long enough to have stories of their own. He’s the kind of person who enjoys learning how to make or repair something himself, although he’ll readily admit there have been projects where calling somebody qualified would have been the better decision. Wyatt also values time with family and friends. He’s dependable, patient, and usually the person willing to listen before offering an opinion. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t have opinions — particularly when college football enters the conversation. On Backroad Sunrise, Wyatt brings an upbeat but easygoing personality to Saturday mornings. There’s plenty of today’s hottest country and enough conversation to get the weekend moving without making it feel like somebody is shouting at you to have a good time. Then on Easy Like Sunday Morning, another side of Wyatt fits naturally. The pace of the conversation becomes a little more relaxed, giving him room for stories, humor, music, and the kind of company that feels right for a Sunday morning. The country stays hot; Wyatt simply doesn’t see any reason to rush through it. Two mornings. Two different shows. The same guy behind the microphone.
