On-Air Talent Profile

Hudson Cain

Hudson Cain may have grown up just outside New York City, but somewhere along the way, country music became his thing. Originally from Long Island, New York, Hudson grew up surrounded by just about every kind of music imaginable. Country wasn’t something handed down to him through generations of family tradition. He found it for himself. As a teenager, Hudson started discovering contemporary country through friends, streaming playlists, and artists whose music crossed boundaries well beyond Nashville. What began with a handful of songs quickly turned into an interest in the entire format. Soon he wasn’t just listening to the music — he was following new releases, watching the charts, learning which songs were climbing at radio, and trying to predict the records everyone would be talking about next. That fascination eventually helped lead Hudson into radio. Today, Hudson is one of The Country Heat’s resident music junkies. He’s genuinely interested in what’s happening across country music, from established superstars releasing their next record to a new artist suddenly starting to make noise. Ask him about a song that’s moving up the charts and there’s a pretty good chance he already has an opinion about it. That makes Hudson a natural fit for both HOT Country and The HOT List, where his enthusiasm for the music comes through without turning the shows into a lecture about chart positions. Hudson knows the numbers are interesting, but the songs are what actually matter. Away from the microphone, Hudson still has plenty of New Yorker in him. He’s direct, quick-witted, competitive, and usually willing to defend his opinion. He’s a big sports fan, enjoys discovering great places to eat, follows technology more closely than he probably needs to, and loves a good argument about something completely inconsequential. He also hasn’t lost his appreciation for where he came from. Hudson can talk country music all day and still have very strong opinions about what constitutes a legitimate slice of New York pizza. On the air, Hudson is confident, energetic, knowledgeable, and never afraid to tell you when a song has caught his attention. He’s just as interested in hearing what listeners think, because he’s learned that sometimes the record everybody in the industry is watching isn’t the one people actually have turned all the way up. Hudson discovered country music on his own. Maybe that’s why he’s still so excited about discovering what comes next. Catch Hudson Cain on HOT Country and The HOT List on W. F. C. D.
